The Beginning
During my teenage years, I admit I lost a sense of who I was at the time. Every day after school I’d lock myself in my room at my mom’s house where I began writing stories. My journal never left my side and story writing became my way of escaping my outer world of chaos and confusion enabling me to enter another world where I was free to create a space of peace and creativity.
While in the 9th grade, I started to imagine what I wanted to do as a profession. A few ideas flashed through my mind but by the time I reached high school, it all went out the window. To this day, I regret having goofed off as much as I did while in high school. As much as my parents protested my irresponsibility and skipping school, I didn’t listen to them.
Later in life when I really wanted to buckle down and study, I didn’t have the credits I needed to go directly into a four-year college which is how I ended up at L.A. Pierce College. My plan: build up my credit score and then transfer to a four-year college. Alas, that wasn’t meant to be but not before I found out Pierce College had a major Agriculture and Animal Science Program.
My dream of owning a horse and possibly becoming a veterinarian suddenly revived itself! I enrolled in animal husbandry courses, anatomy, and basic undergrad classes to raise my credit level.
