When we think of storytelling and the stories that have endured the ages of time, our thoughts might turn to the oldest known stories in the bible. Yet, in every country and nation across the globe, families have passed down stories from generation to generation. Some stories were written, while other stories were passed along verbally.

Imagine a kindly grandfather sitting around the dinner table with his grandchildren. He begins to tell a story when he was their age. The children, intrigued to even imagine Grandpa used to be a boy like them, hang on to his every word. They scoot in closer so as not to miss anything; they want to hear more.

Grandpa sees their interest; he uses his imagination, his wit, and creativity to embellish the truth, and suddenly the 3-foot snake he shot right between the eyes from atop of his horse suddenly becomes a 9-foot snake; and he shot it at a full-on run!
