Being Human

When darkness came, the forest was quiet. Every animal warm inside their burrows and dens sleeping and dreaming until the next day begins.”

Life doesn’t give us time to take a breather unless we insist upon it. Life goes on and we go through our daily living while learning, laughing, or crying, as we strive to become better people; better than we were yesterday.

We aspire to shed our fear, our hurts, and our pain. The animals of the forest depend on their survival instincts to thrive. Humans are more complicated because we have our baggage in tow whether we’re aware of it or not.

Our pain, our hurt, and grief feel so real and it is but there is also beauty, love, kindness, and surrender. I wonder if the animals of the forest know of such things as the wise old owl, the timid rabbit, the stoic stag, and the introspective bear?

Like the animals of the forest at night we sleep, we feel safe and warm in our beds. We close our eyes and dream. Our mind and body rest until we begin another day. Fortunately, each day we have a choice.

Our attitude and our perspective on living matter. It also defines what type of day we’ll have regardless of what’s happening in our lives. Like the animals of the forest, we know when to hide and we know when to venture a little further away from the safety…
